The forty rules of happiness: Rule #2 Be grateful

To be more grateful in life means, that you are giving a chance for yourself to be happier, more amused and more satisfied by everything that happens to you. Nevertheless, being stressed and under pressure would make us disappointed that we may wonder what to be grateful about in our life. While being under pressure, every little crack will get you down. However you must prevent any unpleasant feelings, in order to be grateful. The thing is, how?

Unfortunately, some people think that being grateful is too gauche and naïve, because they see life in an abominable perspective. Therefore, we all need to start working on entirely changing that concept. Life is very nice and beautiful, for those who notice and focus on the little things.

You have to believe in yourself, never be insecure and embrace your imperfections, since our imperfections is what make us unique. Trust that you can do magic and unleash every single beautiful thing within you, because I believe that we are full of magnificent things within us. The thing is that we are ignoring our potential which is absolutely wrong. Like that you'll be grateful for being yourself and for having your own traits and characteristics.

Don't compare yourself to other people. Because, simply you're not other people; you are who you are and this is your own life, so live it to the fullest and don't bother yourself, or waste your life focusing on what others have that you don't. Remember that you also have a lot that others may long for.

As an activity I do and I highly recommend you do it too is, getting a small scrap of paper at the beginning of the day with the phrase 'I'm grateful' written on it. Grab it with you wherever you go. Then write any slight thing that cheered you up throughout the day, for example 'I'm grateful for getting a good grade in my last test'. That will not only help you appreciate the little things but it will also help you be grateful even if life is being unfair.

Being grateful is such a marvelous thing, it always eliminates stress, cheers you up, reminds you that life it splendid and makes you appreciate everything in life –from the slightest one to the vastest. Studies even show the people who regularly practice giving thanks are more likely to be happier. What's even more amazing about gratitude is that it has no upper limits, it can be done wherever and whenever you want it to be. So you can be as grateful as you want to be. See how awesome is gratitude?!

The forty rules of happiness: Rule #1 Acceptance

Our life is nothing but a collection of situations, -either sweet or tough-; the point is how we take advantage of them. We have to deal with the fact that tough situations will come across us every once in a while because at the end that's our fate and it can never be changed. But we've to be stronger and to hold on, if we really want to be happy.

Situations that keep us low-spirited, for example: Death of some beloved persons. Their life was taken for a certain reason but it wasn't meant to cease or take our lives with them. That was one crack that didn't mean to break us; it emerged to test our ability of using our inner strength and power, to teach us that our life depends on nobody's presence.

Of course, you have the right to cry, to wail yet after that you must rise up. You must show the world that you're still here and you're still alive. Because that's the truth, you're still ALIVE. So how can you take advantage of that situation?

Don't give up on life. You've to prove to the person that passed away that you loved them by never giving up and by being successful. You've to be persistent and never forget your goal. Work on what you truly have always wanted, because life won't terminate on a single situation. After that, be sure that the person who left you would definitely be proud of you. Work hard for their own sake if you truly loved them.

Another hard situation would be: failing in something you've tried hard to get. However, have you ever asked yourself 'What is failure?' In some dictionaries it is defined as: "becoming weaker or less successful". Nevertheless, in my perspective, I think that failure doesn't exist. It is something to alert you that there is an error in your planning. You won’t lose anything if you try again; failure is just a new start to achieve your goal in a better way.

So do not under any circumstances give up on life. That's one secret/rule of happiness. No matter how hard the conditions are always try harder and harder, and that is the sweetness of doing what you love. Accepting tough situations and taking advantage of them will always relieve you. So learn to accept every single situation in life.
